Who Is It for

DreamCloud mattress is suitable for different categories of sleepers:

  • Back sleepers – If you are a back sleeper, you will get enough cushioning for your region and enough support for a neutral spine alignment
  • Hot sleepers – the coils in the support layer provide enough room for airflow
  • Combination sleepers – The good thing about the DreamCloud mattress is that it is responsive enough to allow you to change positions.

DreamCloud Mattress Design and Materials

DreamCloud mattress is one of the most affordable mattresses with quality construction. The mattress combines gentle forma layers with a quality section of pocketed coils for a one-two support and pressure relief.

In addition to this, there are some nice properties incorporated into the construction to maintain low temperatures at night.

The flagship  model, which comprises several layers, is a 14-inch tall hybrid. Let’s look at each of these layers:

  • Cover – The cover is made up of a special cashmere blend, which is not only luxurious but also soft and cozy. It is quilted with foram, which provides added plushiness.
  • Comfort Layer – Beneath the cover is a gel memory foam layer that provides extra comfort. The good thing with this material is that it has a slow response to pressure, letting you sink in for pressure relief at the hips and shoulder.
  • Transitional Layer – Beneath the soft memory foam is the transitional layer, which is made up of poly foam. This construction makes it possible for it to respond more quickly to pressure than the materials above it. The purpose of this layer is to ease the transition from the softer comfort layer into the former coil section.
  • Support Layer – The support layer is made up of a tall section of individually wrapped coils. This spongy layer offers a lot of firmness, bounce, and support to your bed. Also the spaces between the coils enhance good airflow, which work with the gen memory foam to improve cooling of the mattress.
  • Base Layer – The final layer is the base layer, which is a thin section of poly foam. The main purpose of this layer is to give the coils something to bounce off, so you may not feel it too much like the other layers listed here.

DreamCloud Firmness and Comfort

In terms of firmness, the DreamCloud mattress rates highly. While the company rates it as a 6.5/10 on the firmness scale, we rated it in the range of 8/10. Of course, you will have to keep in mind that firmness and comfort are subjective attributes.

Larger side sleepers tend to love the DreamCloud mattress because there is no pain like a dead hip when laying on the mattress. Meanwhile, lightweight side sleepers seem to love the hugging sensation provided by the mattress.

Besides the above groups, the heavier back and stomach sleepers heap praise on the DreamCloud mattress because of its pressure relief and support.

Back sleepers, too, were quick to point out how the mattress adapted to their lower lumbar, alleviating any pain on this section.

Unfortunately, the DreamCloud mattress comes with only one firmness level, especially when you compare it with other luxury hybrids like WinkBed Mattress and Saatva Classic Mattress.

So, if you prefer a plusher bed, you may need to consider upgrading to the DreamCloud Premier for an extra $200 – $400.

DreamCloud Mattress Performance

This is also one of the areas that the DreamCloud mattress shines. What we found out is that the mattress is durable and great for co-sleepers. It also maintains a comfortable cool during sleep but it tends to be weak for heavier bodies.

Our review assessed several key areas of performance, including motion isolation, setup, pressure relief, edge support, temperature regulation, and durability. Here is how the mattress scored on each reviewed area:

Set-up

A twin-sized DreamCloud mattress is not too heavy for a single person to set it up. But a queen size mattress, which weighs about 90 – 100 lbs may require more than one person even if you have a strong back.

The good thing is that you can leave the set-up service to a professional by paying $149 for white glove service. You can also pay an additional $20 if you want the company to remove your old mattress.

Off-gassing

DreamCloud mattresses are manufactured without ozone-depleting materials. They are also low in volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions that are usually responsible for the unpalatable chemical odor.

With that said, we detected a slight off-gassing smell while unwrapping the mattress but it dissipated within a few hours.

Pressure relief

Our test found out that the DreamCloud mattress had ample pressure relief. Side sleepers appreciated the support along the shoulders, legs, and hips, while back sleepers noticed countering along the lower lumbar.

Motion transfer

While a twin mattress can comfortably support a single person, we found out that it can support two sleepers without the other disturbing the co-sleeper at night.

Overall, we can confidently say that the DreamCloud mattress is suitable for couples with different sleep styles and schedules.

Temperature regulation

The DreamCloud mattress may not be the best cooling mattress per se, but from our tests, we found out that sleepers with overheating problems had no issue with the DreamCloud mattress. The gel-infused comfort layer of the mattress assists in dispersing body heat.

Edge support

The DreamCloud mattress does a fair job to support heavier sleepers but the support on the edges proved to be weak.

So, if edge support is a priority for you, then you may need to consider other brands like Awara Natural hybrid mattress.

Durability

The DreamCloud is generally a sturdy and durable mattress that is crafted from higher-caliber material. Users loved the quality build. The lifetime warranty also speaks volumes of how the company believes in the integrity of this mattress.

DreamCloud Mattress Price

In terms of pricing, the DreamCloud mattress is competitive in its market when you consider its quality. You could easily get a queen for less than $800.

What it means is that you should ignore MSRP because there is always a DreamCloud mattress that is available for a discount, which takes the mattress into the mid-range price bracket. All you need is a DreamCloud coupon to claim the lower price.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How long does a DreamCloud mattress last?

As mentioned above, the DreamCloud mattress is durable, thanks to its foam and hybrid coil construction.

On average, a DreamCloud mattress should last for about 10 years or even more.

Should you buy the DreamCloud mattress?

If you are a heavier side or back sleeper, or just someone who appreciates firmer mattresses, then the DreamCloud mattress is ideal for you.

Lightweight sleepers may have a hard time adjusting to the mattress because it gradually contours to the curves of smaller frames.

Which mattress brand is comparable to DreamCloud?

There are several alternatives to DreamCloud.

But the one that is closely comparable to DreamCloud in terms of construction and quality is Saava.

Both mattresses provide a combination of cushion foam and supportive innersprings coils. They are also constructed from high-quality material.

Conclusion

DreamCloud is a luxurious mattress made of high-quality materials, which you can only compare to those found in high-end hotels.

Specifically, it is a 14-inch mattress, which is taller than most mattresses on the market, giving it an added sense of regality, support, and durability.

Its only downside is that its height make it heavy than similar luxurious mattresses. But the good thing is that it comes with handles on the side to help you move the mattress into your home.

Another thing you should note is that it is a bed-in-a-box mattress, which means that you will receive it at your door rolled up and compressed.

Another area where the DreamCloud mattress scores low points is motion isolation. This feature is beneficial for sharing a bed but don’t want to be awoken by each other’s movement.
