About SmartHomeDock

Smart home advice you can actually trust

SmartHomeDock was built for one reason: most smart home guides online are thinly disguised advertisements. We wanted to change that. Every guide on this site is written from scratch, independently researched, and never influenced by what a brand pays us.

    Our story

    Why SmartHomeDock exists

Smart home technology should make everyday life simpler — not require an engineering degree or a bottomless budget. But when we went looking for honest, beginner-friendly guidance on smart bulbs, thermostats, security cameras and everything in between, we kept finding the same thing: affiliate-stuffed roundups written by people who had never touched the products they were recommending.

SmartHomeDock was created to be something different. A site where the writing starts with the question a real person is asking, not the product a brand wants to promote. Where a recommendation means something because it was earned, not bought.

Our promise to you: No brand has ever paid to be featured on this site, and none ever will. We earn a small commission through Amazon affiliate links when you buy through our recommendations — that is how the lights stay on. That arrangement is disclosed on every page where it applies, and it never influences what we recommend or what we write.

    Our methodology

    How we research and review

Every guide goes through the same process before it is published. We do not publish first and fact-check later.

    1

We research the real questions people ask

We start with what readers are actually searching for — not what sounds impressive in a headline. This means covering the beginner question just as thoroughly as the advanced one.

    2

    We evaluate products honestly

We review specs, user reports, compatibility details and real-world performance. Where we have tested a product personally, we say so. Where we have not, we say that too.

    3

We write for the reader, not the algorithm

Every article is written in plain language. No jargon for its own sake. The goal is that someone who has never bought a smart home device can follow every guide without Googling half the words in it.

    4

    We keep everything current

Smart home products change fast. We review and update every article on the site regularly. If a pick is discontinued or a better option exists, the guide reflects that immediately.

    The team

    The people behind SmartHomeDock

SmartHomeDock is a small, focused team. That is intentional — it means every piece of content gets proper attention rather than being rushed out to hit a publish quota.

    Transparency

    Affiliate disclosure

SmartHomeDock participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program — an affiliate advertising programme that allows sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

When you click a product link on this site and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we fund the time and research that goes into every guide.

Important: Our editorial recommendations are never influenced by affiliate relationships. If a product is not good value for the reader, we do not recommend it — regardless of commission rate. Products are chosen first; affiliate links are added after. Never the other way around.
